Exercise, a non-pharmacological tool, has been used to 'treat' several ailments and health conditions from time immemorial. Its usefulness is globally acknowledged in the development of physical fitness, improvement in cardiovascular and respiratory function, reduction in coronary artery disease risk factors, decreased mortality and morbidty, improving positive effects of psychological factors such as anxiety and depression, enhanced feelings of well being and efficient performance of work, recreational and sport activities.
