Abstract

Available evidence indicates that Africa accounts for the highest burden of maternal mortality in the world. Primary postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) accounts for an estimated 25% of maternal mortality, and is a major cause of postpartum disability in sub-Saharan Africa.
