Abstract

The Town Clerk of Matatiele (Mr. C. F. Davies) wrote last month to the Government Entomologist calling attention to a plague of catterpillars which has attacked the intrees in that Municipality. Samples of the caterpillars eggs, cocoon and moth were submitted. Mr. Davies asked on behalf of his CouncIl for information as to extermination and preventive measures. The pest attacks every descriptionption of trees, stripping them of all foliage and, in the case of fruit trees, leaving the fruit hanging bare.
