Abstract

In view of the possible early unification of South Africa the Government were wisely anticipating the development of all the resources of the Colony, and amongst them the wine industry, which, notwithstanding the undoubted suitability of the soil and climate for the cultivation of the grape, had, I imagine, been somewhat neglected of late, seeing that practically no Cape wines had been exported to the United Kingdom for many years past.
