Abstract

Bread being known as the staff of life, it is felt that whatever labour is spent on increasing the wheat supply not only for this Colony but for the whole world is a work of which the benefit cannot be overestimated. Cape Colony or rather South Africa does not at present produce anywhere near the quantity of wheat that should be produced seeing the amount or suitable soil available for this purpose.
