The objective of this study was to assess the relationship between sense of coherence, coping, burnout and engagement amongst ministers. A survey design was used. The Orientation to Life Questionnaire, COPE, Maslach Burnout Inventory - Human Services Survey and Utrecht Work Engagement Scale were used as measuring instruments. The sample consisted of ministers (n=87). The results showed that sense of coherence, approach coping and work engagement were negatively related - while passive coping positively related to burnout. Sense of coherence and coping strategies predicted burnout and work engagement. Ministers in the age group 25-29 showed lower levels of emotional exhaustion compared to the other age groups, while levels for the age group 30-49 were higher than for the older group.
