Abstract


African horse sickness (AHS) is a noncontagious, vector borne viral disease, mainly affecting Equids and transmitted by midges. Data on the occurrence of AHS in arid environments is limited, especially in Namibia where it is underestimated and underreported. In this study the historical profile of AHS and patterns in the distribution thereof is illustrated.
