Abstract

The title of my paper implies a certain correspondence between gender and the body of writing produced by Afrikaans women writers. Such an undertaking homogenises women as writers, and establishes an essentialistic approach to the subject or creator and cultural production. In lieu of generalisations ( prefer to give a brief outline of the history of women within the literary and textual production of the Afrikaans language. Having done this I will return to the role of the body, or its cultural derivative gender, within textual production.
