Abstract

So what goes wrong when a pocket calculator is brought into play? Are pupils relying so heavily on technology that mental arithmetic and critical thinking are starting to take something of a backseat? Or is the fundamental rigour of basic calculator usage simply lacking? The issue is no doubt a complex and multi-faceted one.
