I would like to share with fellow mathematics educators and teachers my experience with some primary school children on addition of fractions. Some months ago I worked with standard 6 and 7 children (about 10-13 years old) in Malawi. One of the topics was addition of fractions. I observed that the most common error that the students made was to add the numerators and add the denominators.
