Abstract

A study in determining voluntary feed intake and digestibility of natural mixed pasture, with Themeda triandra dominating, under very light grazing intensity, was conducted at Glen with sheep during one year. The results of the experiment indicate that the nutritive value potential of the natural pasture, under very light grazing intensity, was sufficient to supply in the nutritional requirements of the experimental sheep for both maintenance and production throughout the year. The high nutritive value of the pasture was confirmed by the live weight gains of the experimental sheep during the trial.
