Abstract

The analysis of the freeze-dried and whole wet ruminal contents gave a better indication of fodder composition (Du Toit, Le Roux & Coetzee, 1969) than of the in vivo digestion coefficients. Relationships obtained between the in vitro determinations on the fodder samples and the in vivo digestion coefficients are in agreement with similar publications in the scientific literature. No relationship could be established between the in vitro determinations on the freeze-dried ruminal contents and the in vivo digestion coefficients.
