Abstract

Urea plus maize meal, biuret plus maize meal, peanut oil cake meal, sunflower oil cake meal and fish meal were fed as nitrogen rich feedstuffs at a daily level of 6.5 g N/sheep. Poor quality Eragrostsi curvula hay containing only 0.42 per cent N constituted the basal ration. Ten Dohne Merino type wethers averageing 59.8 kg in weight were used in a duplicated Latin square design to determine voluntary hay intake and N-balance.
