Abstract

The effect of supplementing three different carcass meals, three whale meals, whale solubles and two fish meals with single amino acids and their combinations on nitrogen retention by chickens, was studied in four experiments. Of the amino acids methionine, tryptophan, histidine and isoleucine added to whale meal and whale solubles, only methionine and, in the case of whale meal, histidine in the presence of methionine, resulted in improved performance.
