Abstract

Ruminal and fistula samples were collected at fortnightly intervals from sheep kept on a relatively pure stand of Themeda triandra during the 1964/65 season. In comparison to freeze-drying, oven-drying caused denaturation of proteins and exerted an adverse influence on the nitrogenous criteria. Although significantly correlated with each other, much higher values were obtained for ruminal than for fistula samples with all nitrogenous criteria.
