In vitro fermentation techniques were tested for the prediction of nutritive value of forages. Knowledge of the nutritive value of different plant species is essential in any plant breeding program. The effectiveness of such a program would be enhanced if it were possible to determine the nutritive value by means of a simple laboratory method since conventional digestion trials are usually laborious and time-consuming.
