Abstract

This paper descriptionbes 17 new species of African Scenopinidae, all from South and South West Africa, many of them reared from larvae. Included are six new Scenopinus species: S. fulignatus, S. gariesensis, S. namibensis, S. pakhuisensis, S. umkomaasensis and S. vesperugocavus. The genus Propebrevitrichia with only three previously descriptionbed species is increased to 14 with the addition of P. bonnieana, P. botterkloofensis, P. canuta, P. dionaeforma, P. falcata, P. gobabebensis, P. irwini, P. langebaanensis, P. pakhuisensis, P. patersonensis, and P. swakopensis. An error in the spelling of Metatrichia lophyrosoma (Speiser) in previous publications by the author is noted with citations and location of changes.
