oa Annals of the Natal Museum - Le nouveau genre africain Apenthecia et ses relations avec le 'genre' Erima Kertész de Nouvelle Guinée (Diptera: Drosophilidae)

Volume 25, Issue 2
  • ISSN : 0304-0798

The taxon Erima Kertész from New Guinea is presently considered as a subgenus of Amiota Loew. The study of the holotype of E. fasciata which, up to now, was considered lost, confirmed this interpretation. Simultaneously, it showed that the African species, previously included in Erima, belonged to another genus created here: Apenthecia. Five new species from South Africa are descriptionbed so that the genus Apenthecia now comprises eight African species. A. lepidothrix from Micronesia is also tentatively included in this new genus.
