oa Annals of the Natal Museum - Considérations sur les genres Liocheles, Ischnurus, Opisthacanthus, Hormurus, Hadogenes et Chiromachus appartenant à la sous-famille des Ischnurinae (Scorpiones: Scorpionidae)

Volume 25, Issue 2
  • ISSN : 0304-0798

The ischnurine genera Liocheles, Opisthacanthus, Hormurus, Hadogenes and Chiromachus are discussed. Liocheles Sundevall, 1833, was based on Scorpio australasiae, therefore Hormurus Thorell, 1876, is a synonym of Liocheles as suggested by Koch in 1977, Ischnurus Koch, 1837 (not 1838) has as type species I. complanatus (now a Liocheles) and not I. ochropus descriptionbed only in 1938, so it is also a synonym of Liocheles. Chiromachus Pocock, 1893, is re-established for I. ochropus. The taxonomic status of Chiromachus is analysed. The genus is considered valid and quite different from Opisthacanthus and Hadogenes. C. ochropus is redescriptionbed. Opisthacanthus davydovi Birula, 1903, from Aru Islands, Melanesia, is a synonym of Liocheles weber; (Pocock, 1893), descriptionbed from Luwu, Celebes Islands.
