Abstract

Three new species of Synolcus Loew, 1858 are descriptionbed; S. amnoni (South Africa: Natal), S. argentius (South Africa: Richtersveld, and southern Namibia), and S. malawi (southern Malawi). The latter species extends the range of the genus far further north than previously published information indicated. Two new species of the previously monotypic genus Gibbasilus Londt, 1986, G. brevicolis and G. centrolobus both from the Cape Province, South Africa, are also descriptionbed. New Natal Museum records of Synolcus and Gibbasilus species and new keys to the species are provided.
