Abstract

To reflect on justice and rhetoric is a minefield, or a field littered with commonplaces. However, rhetoric, as hermeneutic, accompanies justice, right from its very first steps into this minefield: as I have described it elsewhere through a close reading of the opening sentences of Aristotle's , in Kantian terms rhetoric is condition of possibility of justice. To do rhetoric is to pay attention to attitudinal situations shaped by social situations of exigency, and words as mental institutions in the sense lent them by.
