Abstract

We propose the use of a statistical model to predict the highest grade most likely to be reached by a learner in the South African school system. The method is based on promotion, repetition and dropout rates of learners, and makes a valuable contribution in the context of claims against the Road Accident Fund (RAF) as well as in medical malpractice cases. Forensic psychologists are likely to derive value from this method during the process of compiling reports for such claims.
