The undeniable success of modem science has led many people in our day uncritically to the false claim of scientism, that is, the claim that science can solve all human problems, that all we need is science and technology. Implied in this claim is that the humanities have outlived their usefulness in an age of science and technology. Consequently Governments in many African countries misled by this claim of scientism now look dawn on the humanities and relegate them to the position of insignificance in their education policies.
