Abstract

Archaeological mitigation (rescue work) at Makalamabedi Drift prior to the construction of a new bridge has revealed a Tshangula occupation dated probably between 25,000 and 20,000 B.P. People were attracted to this silcrete sill in the Botletle River, because it provided stone for the manufacture of tools and rich aquatic and game resources.
