Volume 29, Issue 1

Abstract

Samples of maize and sorghum grains from 12 storage silos located in 10 towns in Botswana were assessed for the presence of moulds and aflatoxins. Storage conditions, resulting in insect and rodent infestation and exposure to moisture could be responsible for aggravating spoilage of grain. A continuous surviellance programme for mycotoxin producing fungi and mycotoxins in foods must be carried out in order to control mycotoxicoses.
