Abstract

This paper is about Islam in Botswana during the colonial period. It is noted in the paper that Islam was introduced in the country from South Africa through the activities of Indian Muslim traders. The paper argues that Islam failed to spread in Botswana during the colonial period because of the failure of the Indian Muslim traders to propagate their faith and the hostile policies of the colonial government which restricted the activities of the Indian Muslim traders for many years.
