Abstract

Performing arts have formed a very important part of the culture and tradition in Botswana society. Music and dance are part of any village's and community's entertainment and communication. Church music has become has played a significant role in nurturing music talent. School curricula have captured the essence of music and drama. Visual arts have come in many forms, traditionally being non-commercial and purely for home decoration. Sadly, most of these traditions are dying and very little has been forthcoming from the various communities to retain and sustain the creativity. Considerable expectations are placed on the Government and the private sector for the necessary support for the survival of performing arts and the establishment of cultural museums.
