Abstract

This study of Grewia flava DC aimed at understanding the distribution, association and environmental variables that influence the apparent patterns in the Kalahari. Community participation in data collection enabled the residents to identifY the sample sites with diverse abundance levels of G flava and estimated the magnitude of environmental factors upon the species. It was demonstrated that the distribution and composition of G flava clusters is a function of both anthropogenic and natural factors. The significant environmental variables identified in the field with t-values above 2.1 that determined spatial distribution and composition of G flava were distance from the village, cutting of the vegetation and the establislunent of arable fields in the Kalahari environment.
