oa Botswana Notes & Records - The dangers of ethnic groups relocation: The case of the CKGR Khoe and San communities

Volume 35, Issue 1
  • ISSN : 0525-5090

The discussion of this paper is divided into three parts. The first provides a brief historical account of the CKGR people. The second part endeavours to provide an account of the intrinsic link of these people's life with the CKGR environment. The third part argues that the relocation exercise and the procedures thereof, have consequences that are tragic, and may constitute a violation of the Khoe and San people's human and ethnic rights, as the situation has worsened from just a talk about ""vulnerability"". The fourth part provides some practical suggestions on what could be done in the way of mitigating against the traumatic and tragic situation faced by these people.
