Abstract

The paper discusses the various uses to which terrain attributes are put to in Botswana. Noted are the natural landscape components that aid in siting dams, wind energy generation, ecotourism landforms, shrink-swell (cracking) clays as they affect buildings, and the role of landforms in gravitational positioning of water reservoirs and telecommunications equipment. Botswana soils discussion highlights the limited agricultural output because of the low nutrient status of the soils and the low, erratic and seasonal rainfall. The environmental considerations to further our understanding in resources exploitation are examined. The article is the fIrst on Botswana terrain evaluation and its related importance.
