Abstract

The complexity and prolixity of our tax laws may be a boon to lawyers and tax advisors, but it is surely a cause for concern to taxpayers. Tax laws by their nature have never been simple, short or sweet. But for companies and individuals doing business in South Africa they often represent a quagmire of intractable legal issues and disputes with SARS, from which extrication is both difficult and expensive.
