Abstract

History is composed of lifestyles and family backgrounds as much as it deals with politics, wars, economics, power-struggles and rights. Therefore, all of us should recognise our responsibility in recording facts and events in our own experience so as to consign them to posterity and therefore to the history of a people. As far as the younger generation is concerned, prized possessions, whether inherited or collected by the older members of the family, form but an unremarked and unremarkable part of the household environment. In general, only the sudden disappearance of an item brings its erstwhile presence into focus.
