Abstract

Anaphylaxis during anaesthesia or in the intensive care unit may be an acute and dramatic adverse event. Even so, such reactions are frequently ascribed to clinical changes associated with the surgical procedure or the patients' underlying pathology sooner than being acknowledged as an adverse drug reaction. Subsequent determination of the responsible agent is complex and requires a multidisciplinary approach.
