Abstract

Facial erythema may present clinically as a symptom of common diseases such as eczema, psoriasis, acne, urticaria, infections and adverse drug reactions. It may also be the presenting feature in other rarer disorders. Swelling of the face (with or without erythema) however is the sign that raises alarm bells with clinicians and often results in referral for emergency management.
