Abstract

Allergic diseases, including asthma, rhinitis, conjunctivitis, dermatitis and food allergies, are major contributors to morbidity and sometimes cause mortality in the developed world. Also, their incidence and severity are still rising. Over the past decades, genetics together with both basic and clinical immunology have made great strides in understanding the disease processes in allergy. The articles in this edition of include aspects of food allergy, drug allergy and anaphylaxis, in line with the themes of this year's ALLSA congress.
