Abstract

Extracted from text ... Early combination of carvedilol and ACE inhibition prevents progression of heart failure The clinical outcome of patients with mild chronic heart failure can be significantly improved by the early initiation of carvedilol (Dilatrend(r)) in combination with the ACE inhibitor enalapril, according to new study results presented at the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Congress. These findings are from the CARMEN (Carvedilol ACE Inhibitor Remodelling Mild CHF Evaluation) trial - the first large-scale direct comparison of a beta-blocking agent (carvedilol) versus an ACE inhibitor (enalapril) on the effects of left ventricular remodelling in chronic heart failure.1, 2 Improvement of left ventricular ..
