Abstract

Aerial photographic interpretation is used for obtaining qualitative information from aerial photographs. Its methods and potential are possibly not as well known as those of photogrammetry. This paper descriptionbes the principles, requirements and procedures of aerial photographic interpretation. In civil engineering, aerial photographs provide a wealth of information primarily for projects covering relatively large tracts of terrain. Three case histories of the application of aerial photographic interpretation to civil engineering have been chosen to indicate the major savings in time and effort that can result from its application.
