Abstract

Civil engineers are creative people, talented beyond their profession. We see their paintings hanging on walls, we hear them playing in bands and symphony orchestras, we hear their lyrics, and we read their poetry. The engineers who wrote the two poems on this page have managed to bridge the age gap through the timelessness of words. Vincent Kuo's poem is a tribute to all the dedicated men and women who have contributed so much to the civil engineering profession - the very profession to which Vincent and his young colleagues are now heartily committing themselves, and on which Paul Harper looks back with fondness, and a good measure of realism.
