Abstract

The paper covered a subject which had many baffling features and the Authors were to be congratulated on their open-minded and analytical approach to the problem. For quite a considerable time it had been the policy of the S.A.R. Administration to construct new bridges situated within the coastal belt - up to 10 miles from the sea shore - in reinforced concrete because of the difficulty and expense of satisfactorily maintaining steel structures in good condition.
