To this end, the journal brings together wide spectra of scholars and researchers engaging in vigorous theoretical and empirical research on African politics, economic policies and the implications for the survival of states and the larger African society.

Indo-Pacific Journal of Phenomenology
The Indo-Pacific Journal of Phenomenology is intended to provide scholars in the southern hemisphere with an avenue through which they can express their scholarship. The Journal also serves as a networking opportunity for scholars in the region as they undertake their research. Similar avenues exist in the Northern Hemisphere (Europe and North America). The IPJP is intended primarily as a forum for Southern African, Indian, Australian, Asian, New Zealand and Pacific Island scholars to discuss a broad range of phenomenological issues. However, contributions from Northern Hemisphere phenomenological scholars will also be considered. The underlying assumption of the Journal is that phenomenology provides researchers with a unique research philosophy which allows them to explore issues central to the question of being human. It enables the richness of human experience to be explicated. We particularly seek to support and encourage those scholars who feel the need for a further dimension in their research which enables them to explore topics whose import lies beyond the reach of measurement and calibration, and in areas such as human meaning, experiences, values, and truthfulness. We envisage the Indo-Pacific Journal of Phenomenology as providing established scholars and students with an avenue for publishing written material and undertaking new exploratory research in areas such as social relationships, bodily experience, emotional sentiment, mental states, and the contemporary contexts in which these take place.

Journal of Vocational, Adult and Continuing Education and Training
The Journal of Vocational, Adult and Continuing Education and Training recognises the need for critical engagement through studies in TVET and Adult/Continuing education and training, and for encouraging critical scrutiny of this expansive knowledge area on the African continent.
The voices and experiences of practitioners, reflecting on all aspects of teaching and learning within vocational education and adult education settings, should be heard through the publication of empirical and robust research. While the journal clearly wishes to take forward academic scholarship, it also seeks to strengthen opportunities for reflective practice that makes a scholarly contribution to the field. New knowledge emerging out of complex developmental contexts has significant value and needs to be show-cased beyond existing geographical and political boundaries. The journal is therefore committed to also supporting the development of emerging researchers by providing them with a space to present and defend their research amongst a network of global scholars. Within the field of vocational and continuing education there is substantive ‘grey literature’ that remains in project report form. The journal is potentially a vehicle for the translation of this important work into an academic contribution to a wider community of practice and thereby enhancing its value.

It is based at the School of Journalism and Media Studies at Rhodes University and has been publishing since 1991. The writers consist of practitioners in the field and media experts, academics, monitors and researchers. The Review takes a strongly interventionist stance, setting agendas and promoting debates on critical media issues for journalists. It communicates these thoughts visually and with striking design. Rhodes Journalism Review seeks not so much to document the passing events and controversies involving journalists and journalism but rather to explore in a more sustained and issue-based way the methods, mechanisms and mindsets involved in a journalism that is more responsive and responsible in relation to its social and political role in democratic countries. We seek to put into practitioners' and educators' hands a tool for critical thinking, analysis and altered practice. This is done by commissioning a wide variety of points of view and experts on multiple subjects and by looking into and reporting on innovative practices and ideas which lend themselves to being more widely disseminated.

Ubuntu : Journal of Conflict and Social Transformation
Ubuntu stands for humaneness built on the foundations of a relational worldview embedded in most African cultures and reflected in the philosophy of non-violent conflict transformation. The journal is expected to serve as a forum for scholars in the field of peace studies who seek to go beyond the paradigm of power and rational choice assumptions to tap on moral and creative human potential to resolve conflicts in a just manner in recognition of human interrelatedness and connection. For about two decades (since about the 1990s), there has been greater realization that the focus of any meaningful resolution of conflict should not be about the mere settlement of conflicts; rather, it should embrace ways and means by which the parties can be brought to live together and cooperate in the future to avoid a recourse to conflict and war. That purpose is at the heart of the focus of Ubuntu : Journal of Conflict and Social Transformation.
