Abstract

Offenders are daily fleeing from scenes of crime leaving behind contact traces in the form of blood, saliva, tissue, skin, or hair, etc. With the development of molecular biology, these crime samples can now be analysed in laboratories to produce a pattern of fine lines, that resemble a supermarket bar code.
