Abstract

Some 40 million people worldwide are living with HIV, sub-Saharan Africa being the worst hit. The subcontinent carries just over 10% of the world population, but is home to over 60% of all people living with HIV. In South Africa alone, more than 5 million people are living with the virus. The CSIR is exploring novel, scientific interventions that may curb and eventually eradicate the spread of the pandemic.
