Abstract

To some, bottled water is an essential part of a healthier lifestyle. To others it is a fashion statement. Whatever the motivation, the popularity of bottled water in contemporary society is undeniable. Studies have shown that consumption of bottled water in South Africa increased by 34.7% from 2005 to 2006 to approximately 270 million litres. The phenomenon of this R1,8 billion industry is showing no signs of slowing down.
