Abstract

A study by a team of researchers from the CSIR and the North-West University (NWU) has shown that nanofiltration membranes can produce safe drinking water from brackish groundwater. It is believed that, with further improvements, nanomembrane technology can drive down the prohibitively high cost of desalination - getting fresh water from salty water.
