Abstract

Having left the pressures of a busy Johannesburg commercial litigation practice for the peace and tranquillity of Simon 's Town*. I imagined that my energies as an attorney in practice would be focused on the need of the local community. As I understood the position, Simon's Town was now the centre for foreign property buyers and indeed persons wishing to retire in a beautiful coastal setting surrounded by mountains. I expected that I would soon have queues of prospective clients asking me to draw their will and trusts and to advise them generally on estate-planning issues. Little did I know how wrong this prognosis was to be.
