A considerable number of articles have been recently published concerning Roman navigation in the silk route in Late Antiquity. Abundant new archaeological and epigraphic material has demonstrated that Imperial Rome continued successfully the Hellenistic naval tradition in the lucrative, long distance, maritime trade of the silk route. An impressive number of epigraphic and archaeological discoveries, including a number of underwater findings, have been accumulated and interpreted thoroughly.
