Abstract

The Herodian age (roughly 40 BCE-100 CE) had its own character and deserves special attention. So argues Horbury, who also suggests that "Herodian" can disappear behind headings such as early Roman period, the Second Temple period, early Judaism, or the age of Christian origins. In this context Horbury investigates two broadly defined areas: Jewish and Christian Piety (6 articles), and Modern New Testament Study (2 articles). The articles collected here are therefore revised editions of earlier material covering a wide range of topics, all but one written in English, with the other written in German.
