Abstract

A report published in the Western Cape News on 6 October 2010 states that relaxers are one of the products that can actually lead to hair loss.


The study, done by University of Cape Town Associate Professor Nonhlanhla Khumalo, and published in the March issue of the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatologists, has found that the use of relaxers can lead to 'a rash of embarrassing hair and scalp conditions, including hair loss, especially when combined with extensions, weaves or braids.'
