NEWS One of the saddest moments in the first decade of the new millennium was the natural disaster that killed hundreds of thousands of people across South East Asia in December 2004. The devastating tsunami left in its wake the destruction of billions of rands worth of infrastructure, the reconstruction of which will take years. The good news is that the South African Water Sector (SAWS) is determined to lend its strong base of knowledge and expertise to the cause, concentrating a large percentage of its efforts on the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
