Abstract

Pumps are required to move fluids within a system of piping against the respective total friction head of that pipe system - a typical example being a forced circulation system such as a central heating installation. In the case of different liquid levels between system inlet and outlet the additional static head must also be overcome a typical example being water displacement to a higher level i.e. to fill and maintain a near constant level in a header tank.
